The sales of the latest iPad Pro models in both 11 and 13-inch sizes seem to be affected by their high prices and the presence of the larger iPad Air 13.

The newest versions of the Apple iPad Pro lineup come with advanced Ultra Retina XDR OLED displays and improved 9/10-core Apple M4 processors, marking significant upgrades from their predecessors, which had mini-LED screens and the Apple M2 chipset. However, a recent report suggests that due to their higher prices and the availability of the 13-inch iPad Air, the new iPad Pro models may not sell as well as expected.

After much anticipation, Apple has unveiled the next-generation 11 and 13-inch iPad Pro models, alongside the new iPad Air. Both iPad Pro variants feature Ultra Retina XDR displays, the latest M4 SoC, and a fresh design. Despite these notable improvements, the iPad Pro models may face challenges in achieving exceptional sales figures.

A recent report focusing on AMOLED technology predicts that AMOLED tablet sales will reach 9 million units in 2024.
TrendForce estimates that shipments of the new iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 13-inch models could total between 4.5 to 5 million units. While exact shipment figures for the previous-generation iPad Pro are not available, TrendForce’s report suggests that the projected figures for the new models may be somewhat disappointing compared to Apple’s 2023 iPad Pro sales
.

In 2023, Apple reportedly led the global tablet market with a 40% share and shipped 54 million units.

According to TrendForce, the lower sales forecast for the new iPad Pro models in 2024 may be due to the introduction of the more affordable 13-inch iPad Air and the $200 higher starting price of the 2024 iPad Pro. With the availability of a more budget-friendly option in the form of the iPad Air 13, consumers seeking a larger iPad may opt for the cheaper choice.

Only time will reveal how well the new iPad Pro models perform compared to their predecessors.

For those interested in purchasing a new Apple tablet, both the iPad Pro 11 and 13-inch models are currently available for pre-order, with official sales beginning on May 15th.
