Squid Game Season 3 Ends the Series with a Powerful and Emotional Finale
Netflix’s hit show Squid Game has officially come to an end with the release of its 3rd and final season on June 27, 2025. With just six episodes, Season 3 is the shortest season but also the most intense. It tells the emotional final chapter of Seong Gi-hun’s journey, filled with tough choices, deep pain, and a strong message about hope and humanity.
Short but Shocking
The season was released in India at 12:30 p.m. IST, and right from the first episode, it dives straight into action. Picking up right after the events of Season 2, the show becomes even darker and more emotional. The visuals are stunning, but the story is heavier and more gripping than ever before.
Familiar Faces Return
Lee Jung-jae returns as Seong Gi-hun (Player 456). Other important cast members also return for the final game, including:
Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man (In-ho)
Wi Ha-joon as detective Jun-ho
ark Gyu-young, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Jo Yu-ri, and more in strong supporting roles
Story Highlights: The Final Game
This time, Gi-hun does not return to the game to win — he returns to end it. The Front Man has created new and even more dangerous games for rich VIPs to enjoy. One of the most shocking games, called “Knives vs Keys”, leads to painful betrayals and heartbreaking deaths.
In the final episode, Gi-hun makes it to the end with a newborn baby (Player 222) and a man named Myung-gi. Myung-gi dies, and Gi-hun faces a terrible choice —kill the baby or give up his own life. In a moment of true kindness, Gi-hun sacrifices himself, saving the baby.
Ending Explained: Hope in Darkness
Thanks to Jun-ho, the Korean Coast Guard raids the island. The Front Man escapes with the baby. Later, there’s a tense moment between the two brothers — In-ho and Jun-ho — but Jun-ho spares his brother’s life because a baby is involved
The final scenes show reunions, forgiveness, and a new beginning. The show ends on a sad but hopeful note, proving that even in the darkest times, humanity still exists.
Creator’s Vision : Director Hwang Dong-hyuk always planned Squid Game as a 3 part story. He split the ending into two seasons to give more time to each character and explore deep emotions. Season 3 focuses on sacrifice, loyalty, and losing innocence in a cruel system.
